Mauricio Armando Gonzalez's Obituary
Mauricio Armando “Baby” Gonzalez, 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 with his loving family by his side after a sudden battle with myasthenia gravis.
Mauricio was born May 29, 1940 in Loma Alta, Texas. He was the 4th sibling out of 6. He grew up in Premont, Texas with his siblings. After graduating from Premont Highschool, he went on to study business classes and joined the Reserves; he joined the police force for Alice, Texas as a Jim Wells County Chief Deputy. July 28, 1979 Mauricio married Rebecca in Alice, Texas. They spent the next 42 years creating a life together and making memories till their lasting days. Later in life, Mauricio was a manager for the Houston Toll Road for many years.
Mauricio retired and enjoyed traveling to visit family, BBQing, camping, loving good food while listening to Tejano music, he sure knew how to have a good ole’ time. He spent quality time with his grandchildren by taking them out for ice cream or out to eat; he was lucky at playing “maqunitas” and watching old western movies. Mauricio was an avid Houston Astros and Houston Texans fan.
Mauricio is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro T. and Jesusa Gonzalez; brothers Alfonso Gonzalez and Jesse Gonzalez; sister Dora Salazar; aunt Estefanita Canales of Premont and wife Rebecca H. Gonzalez. Mauricio is survived by his children Rick (Mary) Gonzalez of Raymondville, Texas; daughter Melinda Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; Christel (Cathy) Gonzalez of Victoria, Texas; Mauricio (Jannette) Gonzalez of Houston, Texas; two sisters; Nora (Augusto) Guerra of San Antonio, Texas and Laura Gonzalez of Fulshear, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Andrea, Alex, Liana, Joseph, Bambi and Penelope. He will be missed dearly by those who loved and adored him.
