Mattie Lee Conklin's Obituary
Home Going Celebration
Born: July 31, 1953
Departed: November 25,2025
Mattie Lee Conklin was born July 31, 1953. She was the first of 13 children born to Mr. Ray Boy Wiley and Mrs. Willie Ann Wiley.
She was born in Kilgore, Texas, and later moved with her family to Beaumont, where she attended Central High School. After leaving Beaumont at the age of 15, she settled in Houston, Texas, where she continued to build her life.
Mattie loved spending time with her family, cooking amazing food, laughing, camping, and fishing. She was also the best hot-shot driver- she knew the map as if she had invented it herself. She could drive any kind of vehicle and was an excellent mechanic as well. You could truly say she wore many hats.
Our cherished and beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mattie Lee Conklin, has peacefully transitioned from her physical body, and her soul is now with the Lord. On November 25, 2025, at 8:49 a.m., at HCA Hospital in Houston, Texas, she gained her heavenly wings with her family by her bedside.
She leaves behind a profound ache in the hearts of everyone who loved her. Though we are heartbroken, we are deeply grateful for the gift of her life—for every lesson she taught, every kindness she offered, and every moment she chose love above all else.
To her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she was a safe place and a constant reminder that we were never alone. She built her life around family, but more importantly, she built a home. Her legacy is stitched into memories of holiday dinners, camping overnight at Sylvan Beach, watching airplanes, sharing stories of our family history, telling jokes, racing in the streets, and reminiscing about anything and everything from the past.
She was a woman who loved her westerns—especially The Rifleman—and all the classic sitcoms of the 1960s and 1970s, including MASH* and Andy Griffith, just to name a few.
She fought a good fight, and now she leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory. Donald Lee Weathers (wife Melanie), Beverly Harp, Nathaniel Weathers, and Rudy Weathers. She is preceded in death by her sons Marcello Weathers and Baby Boy, who now rest with her in eternal peace.
She also leaves behind her mother Willie Ann Wiley and is reunited in heaven with her father, Ray Boy Wiley. Her siblings who continue to honor her life are Tommy Wiley (wife Nancy), Stephanie Wiley, Donna Wiley, Kimberly Wiley, Michael Wiley (wife Cassandra), Tanya Wiley, Arnold Wiley, Robert Wiley (wife Tiffany), and Angela Wiley. She is preceded in death by her siblings Margaret Wiley, Bobby Wiley, and Barbara Wiley-Bell (husband Sean Bell).
Her Legacy lives on through her grandchildren- Kenneth Green, Shandral Nelson (Husband John), Donald Sargent (Tamika), Isaiah Williams, Dakota Weathers and Donovan Weathers-and through her great grandchildren, John Nelson III and Anaya-Renea Nelson. She also leaves behind aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Each of them carries a part of her love with them.
