N LOVING MEMORY OFPASTOR MATHEW T KOSHYJANUARY 14, 1951 - APRIL 24, 2026 “I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” Philippians 1:23 OUR BELOVED DADPastor Mathew T. Koshy (Monachan) was born on January 14th, 1951, to Koshy Abraham and Mariamma Koshy in Chunkappara, Kerala. He was the fourth of seven children. From an early age, he was kind, caring and compassionate, always showing Christ-like love to everyone around him. He received his primary and secondary education in Chunkappara. Even though he was born into a traditional Marthomite family, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior and was baptized at the age of 20.
As his faith grew, Pastor Mathew Koshy realized that God was calling him to ministry. That calling led him to attend IPC Hebron Bible College Kumbanad in Kerala. After he graduated in 1977, he started his ministry in his hometown of Chunkappara. He was ordained by the IPC state council. At the age of 27, he married Aleyamma, daughter of Abraham T.A. and Sosamma Abraham. God blessed them with three children, Joe, Joby, and Pheba.
Pastor Mathew Koshy served as pastor in several IPC churches across different regions of Kerala. Although those years of ministry were marked by hardship and required significant sacrifice, he carried out his calling with joy and dedication. Eventually, he returned to Chunkappara to lead a church-planting ministry. By the grace of God, this work expanded steadily, establishing multiple branch churches and making a meaningful impact across various areas in Kerala. The ministry later became known as Malankara Gospel Ministries. During his ministry, he faithfully preached the gospel, leading many to Christ, baptizing believers, and uniting families. Pastor Mathew Koshy and family moved to Florida in 2000, joining his younger brother Pastor Jacob Koshy. He continued to guide and lead Malankara Gospel Ministries until 2010.
In 2005, Pastor Mathew Koshy and family moved from Florida to Texas. Being a passionate minister of the Gospel, he was involved in different ministries in the City of Houston which was a blessing to many people. During these years in Houston, all three of his children were married. As much as Pastor Mathew Koshy impacted his community through ministry, he took a great deal of pride in spending time with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren describe him as being loving, caring, joyful, kind, gentle, strong, and faithful.
During his later years, he faced several health challenges. Nevertheless, he continued to maintain communication and nurture relationships with a great number of people around the world. On April 24, 2026, surrounded by family and friends, Pastor Mathew Koshy entered into eternal glory peacefully, whom he had faithfully served for more than 50 years.
Pastor Mathew Koshy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Aleyamma Mathew who was the backbone of his ministry and family. His children are Joe and Jesy Mathew, Joby and Siji Mathew, Pheba and Sam Mathai. His grandchildren are Lydia Mathew, Keziah Mathew, Abner Mathew, Asher Mathew, Adler Mathew, Nathan Samuel & Ethan Samuel.
He is also fondly remembered by his siblings, Abraham T. Koshy (Late) & Elsy Abraham, Cherian T. Koshy & Sarama Cherian (Late), Saramma Abraham & P.S. Abraham, Jacob T. Koshy & Rachel Koshy, Varughese T. Koshy, Jolly Philip & Philip Joseph.
Pastor Mathew Koshy will be remembered as a man of integrity with a loving heart and a helping attitude. His life is a testament to the fact that while pain is inevitable, joy is a choice. He chose this joy of the lord every day, which was evident in his daily life and ministry. He was a great example of living the Christian faith by loving, encouraging and caring for everyone he interacted with. All that he did, he did with love and humility for the glory of God.
