Maryann Pollard's Obituary
Maryann Pollard passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the age of 94, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Maryann was born in Stewartville, Minnesota, to Carl and Genevieve Roeder. After graduating from high school, she began working at the Mayo Clinic. Inspired by her experiences there, she moved to Texas in 1955, where she worked for Dr. Denton Cooley at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
In 1956, she married the love of her life, Jack E. Pollard. Together they made their home in Friendswood, where they raised their family. In 1990, Maryann moved to Clear Lake City to be closer to her position at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where she served as an Executive Secretary in the department of Sciences and Technology, working closely with NASA. She retired in 1994 and enjoyed many years of travel, family and the pleasures of retirement.
Maryann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life. She found great joy in supporting and caring for those she loved and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. A faithful Catholic throughout her life, Maryann’s deep faith guided her values, provided strength during life’s challenges, and remained a source of comfort and inspiration to her family.
Maryann is survived by her sons Greg Pollard and his wife Barbie, and Patrick Pollard and his wife Michelle; her grandchildren Andrea Pollard, Jack R. Pollard and his wife Caitlin; her great-grandchildren Olivia Pollard and William Pollard; and her brother Bob Roeder and his wife Rita.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack E. Pollard; her bothers, Jerry Roeder, Artie Roeder, and Jack Roeder and her parents, Carl and Genevieve Roeder.
