Mary Ann Smith's Obituary
Mary Ann Smith went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, William V. and Eunice Dooley Risinger, her loving husband, Billy Brewer Smith, and her brother, James D. Risinger. She is survived by her three children, Margaret Ruth Smith and her husband Wesley Smith, David Wayne Smith and his wife Faiza A. Smith, and John Mark Smith. She also leaves behind her sister Ruth Duff, brother, William Risinger, Jr., sister-in-law, Judy Lee Risinger, nephews and nieces, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ann, as she was called, lived a life of service to God and was the epitome of a Southern lady. She was a source of strength, love and stability to her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and now is reunited with her one true love, Bill, in God’s embrace.
Ann was born on November 2, 1936, in Hamilton, Texas in a tiny four-bed hospital. She would always point it out on family trips back to Hamilton. She later moved to Houston, Texas with her parents, but she never lost her love of the country. Eventually she and Bill moved to Pearland, Texas where they settled with their children.
She always felt a need to care for others. Once the kids grew, moved away and married, she never lost her need to be a mother to them. She shared her motherly warmth and care as a school bus attendant for special-needs students at Pearland ISD for many of her later years. They were her kids, too.
Her joys were simple things like her garden, sewing, cooking, and, of course, eating almost anything from Gringo’s Mexican restaurant. She was a regular attendant at Fellowship Bible Church until she became physically unable to go in person. Her love of God and good music was also exemplified through her collection of every gospel album recorded by Elvis. Oh, did she love Elvis!
Though she leaves so many sad hearts behind, she is now free of earthly worries. Ann surely was followed by His goodness and love all the days of her life, and dwells in the house of the Lord forever. Rejoice in her triumph.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28 at 10:00 AM at South Park Funeral Home: 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581.
Gravesite service to follow immediately afterward.
