Mrs. Mary Lynn Short's Obituary
Mary Lynn Enochs Short passed away on Wednesday, March 2 after a short illness. She was 70 years old and was born May 10, 1940 in Madisonville, Texas.
She moved to Deer Park at an early age. She was a graduate of Texas Woman's University and of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mrs. Short had taught school for a few years. She later became a social worker and activities consultant for several Houston area nursing homes. It was her volunteer work at her church, Cokesbury United Methodist, that she loved. She organized the first Children's Day Out program in the early 70's, the children's drama program, and was in charge of the funeral meals program there for 15 years. She was currently organizing the upcoming 50th birthday celebration for the church, and had organized several previous birthday celebrations there. She was also an officer in the United Methodist Women and had previously been an officer for 10 years in the Houston South District United Methodist Women. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She doted on them and loved them dearly. Besides her loving husband John, she leaves to mourn three children, Ellen Sekumade and husband John of Angleton, Rollin Short and wife Maureen of Denton, and Karen Short of Houston. Her three grandchildren are Jonathan and David Sekumade and Daniel Short. She had two brothers, David Enochs of Jefferson City, MO. and Leland Enochs and wife Donna of Taylor, TX as well as several cousins, nephews, nieces, and aunts. We all will miss her dearly as she was such a loving and caring part of each of our lives.
