Mrs. Mary Claire (Sue Morton's Obituary
Morton
Mary Claire (Sue) Morton was born to Florence Virginia and William Laurence Ankerson on September 11, 1923 in Mobile, Alabama and went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2008 in Houston, Texas at the age of 85. Her six children called her by many names, including Mother, Mom, Mamasita, Mommy and even MooMoo. No matter what she was called, she always answered lovingly. Her Heavenly Father called her His child, and a steadfast faith in God permeated her life.
Mrs. Morton was preceded in death by her husband, George Harry Morton and her second oldest son, Gerald Emory Morton. She is survived by three sons and two daughters'Michael David Morton and wife,Elizabeth; Peggy Ann Morton and husband Fred Higgins; George Patrick Morton; Kevin Thomas Morton and wife, Kathy; Karen Sue Morton-King and husband ,Robert. Her grandchildren include Kelli, Lee, Britney, Jarryd, Jacob, Katarina, Haley and Ragan. She was the rock of her family and was, and continues to be, deeply loved.
She is also survived by one of her siblings, Vickey Ankerson Rowe of Tampa, Florida and the only surviving relative on her husband's side of the family, Lucille Morton Tarbert of Sanford, Florida. There are a host of other loving and dear family members and friends that meant so much to her. Vicki Mudd and Patricia Dunning were often by her side and made her laugh. May the laughter continue.
Mary C. Morton was a devout Catholic her entire life, and her faith in God never waivered. She and her husband raised their six children primarily in Pasadena, Texas and were faithful members of St. Pius V Church. In recent years she lived in Pearland, Texas and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Manvel.
In the Gospel of St. Matthew, Jesus said, ' Well done, my good and faithful servant.' As Mother left her earthly body and went into the presence of God, we believe she heard those words.
May the seeds of faith in God that she personally planted in others take root and grow.
A rosary will be recited Friday at 1 p.m., Sept. 19, 2008, at SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland. The visitation will follow the rosary Friday. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., Sept. 20, 2008 also at SouthPark Funeral Home. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
