Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hoggard's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth (young) Hoggard, probably one of the most gentle people you could ever meet, entered this world with a BANG on July 4th, 1927 and passed to the loving arms of God on December 14th, 2012 at 8:00am after a brief illness. Born in Marshall, Texas, raised in Hallsville, Texas, She was one of nine children of Robert H. Young and Cora Mae Kinzy. She was a farm girl at heart and never forgot her roots. After graduation in 1945, she moved to the Houston Heights. At this point an East Texas farm girl met a North West Texas farm boy, Orval Boyd (O.B.) Hoggard, on a blind date. They hit it off and were married for 53 years. Pop lost his eyesight over the years and Mom became the bread winner and Pop became Mr. Mom. She love to fish, camp and had a zest for life. After Pop passed in 2002, and the untimely death of her daughter Mary Evelyn (Hoggard) Saunders in 2007, she moved to Oak Haven retirement community where she resided until August 2012 when she became ill. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Orval Hoggard, daughter Mary Saunders, and numerous relatives.
