Mary Evelyn Foy's Obituary
Mary Evelyn Foy, 84, passed away from natural causes on November 5, 2013 in Pasadena, Texas. She was born in McKenzie, Alabama on September 23, 1929 to Eugene and Jesse Helen Johnson. Mary grew up on a farm near Evergreen, Alabama along with her three siblings. The Johnson family was surrounded by many relatives who also owned farms adjacent to their property. She grew up in a close knit family network where friends and family kept a close watch over each other.
Upon graduation from high school, Mary attended Troy State University where she earned an Associate's Degree in nursing. She next served in the United States Air Force where she rose to the rank of staff sergeant. In 1952 she met and married Ramon Archie Foy at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. They were married for 60 years when Ramon passed away in 2012.
Ramon and Mary moved into the Houston area in 1958 where Mary worked as a nurse until she retired at the age of 62. Mary was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many leadership positions throughout her life. Volunteering at the church and at the Temple in Houston, Texas gave her great pleasure and joy. Mary loved to return to Alabama and spend time on the old farms where she grew up. She always wore big a smile when she walked up and down the red sandy hills and amongst the tall straight pine trees of Alabama Mary was completely devoted to her family. She was happiest when she was spending time with them having dinner, watching them play sports or just hanging out. Mary dearly loved her pets and they loved her back. When you visited Mary, you got to see them follow her all over the house and then pile into the reclining chair with her to relax a bit. Mary is survived by her daughter, Ramona Foy White and her husband Joe, her son Dana Foy and his wife Stephanie and her son Deryl. Grandchildren Steven, Amy and Andrew
Sister-in-laws Louise Johnson and Bobbie Foy Stead
Brother -in-law James Charles Foy and his wife Beverly.
And many, many nieces and nephews in Texas, Alabama, Florida, Michigan and North Carolina.
