Mrs. Marjorie L. Crow-Botter's Obituary
Marjorie L. Burns CROW-Botter, Our beloved Mother and friend Marjorie Louise Burns CROW-Botter died suddenly on the morning of 27 July 2012, 84 years old. In recent years she had struggled with various health problems that reduced her mobility. Born 25 January 1928 to John Solomon and Ollie Florence Burns, Marjorie was the last of 6 children and 20 years younger than Jewel, the oldest. Her father was a self -educated Railroad Engineer. The family lived near Seminary Hill in south Ft Worth, within sight of the railroad tracks and in the shadow of the big water tank. Dorthinelle Honney was her lifelong friend. As kids they enjoyed roaming what were then bald prairies near their homes. Margie attended Paschal Hi School graduating in 1946, after marrying Ben S. Crow Jr in the old Boulevard Christian Church in north Ft. Worth. Ben and Marjorie had four children and lived at different times in the Meadowbrook neighborhood and on Gould Ave on the north side. Through the 1950's Ben and Margie operated a small family jewelry store on 10th Street downtown Ft. Worth with Ben's father. In the 60's the family lived in the TX cities of Dallas, Paris, Greenville, San Antonio and in Shreveport, La before settling in Houston. For many years Ben and Margie worked together at the big Sage discount store on the Gulf Freeway. Ben managed the jewelry department and Margie worked in the cosmetics dept. Later, they owned and operated Crow's High Class Junque store in South Houston. Some years after Ben died in 1988, Margie married family friend and widower, John Botter. Mr. Botter, suffering from Alzheimer's, is confined to a nursing home. People enjoyed visiting Margie because she liked to laugh, talk and reminisce about places, events and friends. Margie was preceded in death by husband Ben Crow, daughter Cindy, granddaughter Christina, siblings Jewel, Lloyd, Vesta, and Troy. Marjorie is survived by her dear brother Winston Burns; children Shellie Ortiz, Danny Crow and wife Krista, Col (Ret) Bob Crow and wife Elke; grandchildren Lacey, Trini, Dan Jr., Trace, Todd, Jonathan and their families; great grandchildren Dalton, Sara, Desiree, Jay; special friends Barry and Sharon Christian.
