Maria De la Luz Rivera's Obituary
Maria De La Luz Rivera, 74, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.
Maria was born on June 28, 1952, in Mexico. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God. She shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Nicolas Rivera, until his passing on November 28, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicolas Rivera; her sons, Jose Rivera and Petra Rivera; and leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory. She is lovingly survived by her children, Guillermo Martinez, Marisothet Rivera, and Dalia Rivera-Nieto (son-in-law, Abdon Nieto); her 13 grandchildren; her 6 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Maria was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 44 years. She also faithfully served as a member of the Guadalupe Society for 15 years. Her unwavering faith, kindness, compassion, and love for her family were the foundation of her life. She touched countless lives through her generosity, gentle spirit, and strength.
Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, her daughter Petra Rivera, her son Jose Rivera and loved ones who went before her. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
Maria will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
