Maria De Los Angeles Rios' Obituary
María Rios was born in San Luis Potosí on January 26, 1945 to María de la Luz Escalante and Nazario López. As the youngest of four children, she was the baby of the family, always being spoiled with love from all. María’s childhood was not an easy development as she ran into many problems, but she conquered every obstacle with her family. Despite her father leaving, she always had the love of her mother who never abandoned their sides and did anything to provide for them and give them the opportunities she didn’t have. Eventually, María grew up to be a nurse and got married to Ramón Uribe Rios in 1967. Despite leaving nursing to raise her kids, she enjoyed seeing her own children develop into loving adults.
With Ramón, they had four children. She was a loving and strong-willed mother to Maria De la Luz, Ramon, Maria Asuncion (Susy), and Alejandro Rios. A joyous grandmother to Maria Angeles (Angie), Daniel, Alexis Malya (Mya), Susie Amaly (Amaly), Melody, and Hailee-Rose (changito). And was a pamperous great-grandmother to Alexander Gabriel, Jerson Emmanuel, and Mia Leilani.
María Rios will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving mother, la jefa de la casa (bosslady), the shoulder to cry on, la cantante y la chef (always singing songs of Luis Miguel or another idol while she cooked meals with love), the Christmas enthusiast preparing and decorating the tree before Thanksgiving, as a clock collector and leopard-print lover, and she’ll be remembered as the reason traditions became traditions in our small family. She is the reason the little ones became addicted to telenovelas for her love of the drama, the encourager to stay close to our religion, and the reason we celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. She has given us gifts of knowing what love is and knowing how to love others who need it more.
María died knowing she was going to enter the loving arms of her beloved husband, mother, brother, and of our Lord on November 22, 2019 at the age of 74 years old.
Goodbye, Mom. You will always live on in our hearts. ♡ Aguila, Que dios los cuide. Her famous last words, which is the true blessing to us all, “Aguila, Que dios los cuide.” wanting us to be taken care of for which she will still do.
