Maria Martinez's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Elena Martinez, who departed peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, surrounded by her beloved children and family. She was 68 years old. Maria Elena was born on March 15, 1957, in Venustiano Carranza, Durango, Mexico, to her loving parents, Felipe Delgado and Demetria Sandoval.
From a young age, Maria Elena embraced her Christian faith, finding strength and guidance in her relationship with Christ. She was an active member of Mary Queen Catholic Church, where she attended regularly and found a sense of community.
Maria Elena had a deep appreciation for the beauty of vintage items and collectibles, and her passion led her to open her own antique shop. A woman of many talents, she was also known for her love of gardening, dancing, singing, and cooking. She delighted in traveling and often found peace by the waters of Galveston, where she enjoyed the simplicity of nature. Throughout her life, she shared her adventures and joy with family and friends, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
She was a woman of unwavering strength, a quick wit, and a heart full of warmth. Those who knew her will remember her for the love and light she brought into every room she entered.
Maria Elena is survived by her two children, Juan Luis Martinez and Laura Montoya; her six grandchildren, Rogelio Montoya, Liliana Elena Montoya, Vicente Montoya, Gian Anthony Martinez, Vianna Eden Villasana and Vince Micheal Martinez; and her great-grandson Izaiah Trinidad Villasana. She is also survived by her lifelong partner, George Hernandez; three brothers, Pilar, Felipe, and Raul; and six sisters, Micaela, Maria Luisa, Alicia, Maria del Socorro, Elvira, and Rosa. Maria Elena’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and all those who were privileged to know her.
She is now reunited in heaven with her parents, brother Armando, and sister Manuela.
The family takes solace in the words of 2 Timothy 4:7, which perfectly capture Maria Elena’s life: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
