Maria Magdalena Davila's Obituary
On April 22, 2026, Mary Magdalena Sanchez Davila, left this world to be with the Lord. Mary at the age of 85 years old passed peacefully, surrounded by her family and dear friends. Mary was born on May 29, 1940 in Ingleside, Texas. She was raised by her loving mother Fermina Castillo Sanchez and her siblings.
Mary met her husband Felipe Davila in their hometown of Aransas Pass. Mary and Felipe Davila married and relocated to Houston, Texas. There, they built a life and raised a family together, celebrating an impressive 66 years of marriage.
Mary’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with devotion to her family and her faith. A pillar of strength for her husband and children, she made it her mission to ensure they understood the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As a mother and grandmother, her pride was evident in the way she helped raise her grandchildren, offering them a legacy of compassion and forgiveness. Mary often looked back fondly on her own childhood in Aransas Pass, frequently sharing stories of the special bond she shared with her mother and siblings. Her life was a living example of unconditional love, leaving a mark on everyone she touched.
Mary was a devoted member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. Mary truly lived a life of Service; she was a Eucharist Minister and a Continuing Christian Education Teacher. She did this service for many years. Her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She truly enjoyed being with her church family and friends at St. Christopher's. Mary was known for her faith, kindness, strength, and devoted work ethic. May her kindness continue to inspire us and guide those who she leaves behind. Her favorite quote was “When you bring a glow to some other heart, you always light a candle in your own”.
Mary is survived by her husband Felipe Davila and their children. Her son’s Felipe Davila Jr. (daughter in law Dora Davila), Edward Davila, and Jacob Davila. Her daughters Jessica Ramirez and Rachel Davila. She is also survived by her twenty-four grandchildren. She was also very fortunate to have met some of her great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother Fermina Castillo Sanchez and father Paulino Sanchez. Her brothers Francisco Sanchez, Paulino Sanchez Jr, Benjamin Sanchez, Earnest Castillo Sanchez, Rumaldo Sanchez her sisters Rebecca Guilbeaux, and Mary Cantu. Her loving daughter Priscilla Ann Davila.
