Lydia Becerra's Obituary
Our beloved mother, Lydia Lopez Becerra, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2023, at the age of 98. She was surrounded by family throughout her final days.
Lydia was born on January 18, 1925 in Webster, TX, and was a lifetime resident of Alvin, TX. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
Lydia worked for Alvin Independent School District and, later, for NASA’s Johnson Space Center as a custodian. She will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her generous heart, her impeccable style, her award-winning garden, and her irresistible home-cooked meals.
Lydia is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Becerra, Sr.; parents, Solomon and Felicitas Lopez; sisters, Anita Rivera, Aurora Torres, and Felicitas Tovar; brother, Augustine Lopez; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Becerra; and granddaughter Amanda Larson.
She is survived by her son, Robert Becerra, Jr.; daughter, Dora Sims and husband James; grandchildren, Laura Lucas and husband Jeff, Denise Flores and husband Ismael, Rebecca Sims, and Jeff Sims; grandson-in-law, Andrew Larson; great-grandchildren Kimberly Larson, Robert Flores, and Ellie Flores; and brother, Alfred Lopez and wife Mary; lifelong friend, Mary Ortiz; along with numerous other cherished family and friends.
Her family will miss her dearly, and we are grateful for each and every day of her 98 years that we were able to share with her.
