Luz Vazquez's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Luz Marleny Vazquez, after a lengthy battle with chronic kidney disease. Marleny was a passionate woman who moved to the United States as the age of 22 from her home city of Medellin, Colombia. She lived with her sister, Omaira Ramirez, and later became the caretaker of their mother, Mercedes Porras. In her early 30s, Marleny’s struggles with kidney disease began, with countless hours of dialysis until she received a life-changing transplant in 1997. Despite her many health issues, from transplant failure to the loss of an organ (her eye), Marleny never loss her fervor for life. She was a cat-lover who took in many furry friends in her lifetime and was fascinated by the world of television and entertainment. Marleny was a strong-willed woman who was passionate about her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed. Marleny will be reunited with her husband, Elkin Acosta, whom she was married to for 23 years until his passing on December 30, 2022. She is survived by her siblings, Omaira Ramirez and Olimpo Porras and her nephews, Alex Ramirez and Dunker Ramirez and nieces, Claudia Ramirez and Marissa Ramirez.
