Luther Wilkerson Jr.'s Obituary
Luther Wilkerson Jr., 87, of Friendswood, Texas went to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020. He was born January 11, 1933 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to Luther Wilkerson Sr. and Ada Wilkerson.
Luther was proceeded in death by his parents and three sister, Thelma, Dorothy and Ruby, all of Dyersburg, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of 67 years; son, Michael Wilkerson of League City, Texas; son, Jimmy Wilkerson and wife Donna of League City, Texas; Daughter, Teresa Wood of Houston, Texas; grandson, Russell Wilkerson and wife Tiffany of League City, Texas; three granddaughters, Crystal Glasscock of Temple, Texas, Kelli (Wilkerson) Louviere of League City, Texas, Samantha Wood of Houston, Texas; great grandson, Kaleb and three great granddaughters, Makayla, Kelsie and Karsyn; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; as well as his church family and close friends of many years.
Luther was a loving and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. He traveled the world while proudly serving in the US Air Force for 27 years and retired as a Senior Master Sargent in 1976. He then went to work for Montgomery Wards and retired from there in 1993. He then spent his time with his family, friends, dog, reading and serving the Lord. He went to Almeda Mall and walked with his friends, sat and had coffee and talked politics, current events and his love for the Lord.
A visitation with family and friends will be held Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St., Pearland, Texas 77581. A funeral service will occur Monday, February 17, 2020 T 10:00 AM at SouthPark Funeral Home. Burial will be 1:00 PM Monday, February 18, 2020 at the VA Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.
