Mr. Loy Wayne Higgins' Obituary
Loy Wayne Higgins, 79, of Pearland, Texas passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 in Alvin, Texas. Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his parents, Loy Raymond and Ruth Pitts Higgins; son, Darren Lee Higgins; brother, Jerry Dale Higgins. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Palumbo Higgins; children, Steve Higgins and wife Sheila, Cindy Iszard and husband Jon ; grandchildren, Zachary Iszard, Ashley and husband Darrin Snuggs, Ethan Iszard and Christopher Higgins, 2 great-grandchildren Skylar and Hadlie Snuggs, sister Patsy Tripure, brother, Kenneth Higgins and wife Linda, brother Gayland Higgins and wife Kathy, sister Kathy Mills and husband Brad, many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. Higgins lived a life of hard work and service to anyone that would need it. He was an Ironworker from Local #84 where he helped build and shape Houston’s skyline of buildings and retired after 32 years. In his younger years he played basketball with his church league, played softball with a local men’s league and was also on a bowling league for several years. He wore many hats as a father, Softball coach, Little League coach for each son, Sagemont Little League Board member and President for several years, and also a Little League Umpire.
Loy had a wonderful love for nature and the outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish. He always had a vegetable garden Spring and Fall and tended the numerous fruit trees in his yard. One of his favorite pastimes was to watch and feed the variety of birds that came to the yard.
He also had hobbies of creating stained glass, refinishing antique furniture and loved the hunt for antique fishing lures. He loved to work jigsaw puzzles and watch any kind of sporting event.
Most importantly, Loy loved his family and took great pride in all of them. He was not only a wonderful husband, father and grandfather but also a great friend. He will be sorely missed by all of them.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Southpark Funeral Home 1310 North Main St. Pearland, Texas 77581. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, January 9, 2017 at Friendswood United Methodist Church, 110 North Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546.
