Ms. Louise T. Farmer's Obituary
Louise T. Farmer Longtime Pearland resident Louise T. Farmer died August 22, 2008 in Pearland, Texas. The third of five children, Louise was born on February 14, 1921 in Taylor, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania to Patrick F. Gallagher and Catherine Hoover Gallagher. Having graduated from Old Forge High School in 1938, Louise was working for the telephone company in Washington, DC when she met a young army air force Sergeant from Wittier, Arkansas named Jack Eugene Farmer. Louise and Jack were married on February 10, 1945 in Etowah County, Alabama while he was still in the service. Their only child, Kathryn Ann Farmer, was born December 28, 1945 in Sacramento, California. After Kathryn's birth and Jack's discharge from the service, Louise and Jack moved to Galveston, Texas where he worked for Walgreen's. In 1964, Louise and Jack built a house in Pearland, where they made their home for the next four decades.
Louise had several occupations including working for Sears and at a flower Shop at Jack's pharmacy in Garden Villas. After retirement, she remained active by performing volunteer work at Southeast Memorial Hospital in Houston and Clear Lake Hospital in Webster, Texas. Louise was a faithful Christian, and attended the Southeast Church of Christ and Sun Valley Church of Christ. Most recently, she was a member of the Pearland Church of Christ. Louise was an avid student of the Bible, as shown by her well used Bibles. She always enjoyed a good time and could light up a room with her smile. She enjoyed being with people and had an especially memorable vacation with Jack and good friends Mary Alice Webb and E. J. Webb.
Louise was predeceased by her parents Patrick F. Gallagher and Catherine Hoover Gallagher, husband Jack Eugene Farmer, daughter Kathryn Ann Farmer, brothers Peter and Joe Gallagher, and sister Rita. She is survived by her brother William Gallagher of Old Forge, Pennsylvania, nephews William Gallagher of Syracuse, New York and James Gallagher of Mundelein, Illinois, and a host of other friends, relatives, and Christian brothers and sisters. Special thanks to the Pearland Church of Christ, and the workers at Summerville, Odyssey, and Windsong Village for their friendship and care of Louise.
