Loraina Hazel Childers' Obituary
Loraina Hazel Childers passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100. Born on December 4, 1925, in Galveston, Texas, to Mr. Richard Bludworth and Mrs. Lenora Bond Bludworth, Loraina lived a beautiful century filled with unwavering faith, endless creativity, deep love for her family, and compassion for everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Loraina was a woman of grace, strength, and elegance. She had a true passion for fashion and carried herself with timeless style and dignity throughout her life. She also possessed a deeply artistic spirit and found joy in creativity, beauty, and self expression. Whether through her eye for design, her love of art, or the way she cared for her home and loved ones, Loraina left her personal touch on everything she did.
Above all else, Loraina loved her Lord and Savior. Her faith guided her throughout her life and served as the foundation of the love she poured into her family, friendships, and community. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless others who were blessed by her kindness, wisdom, and warm heart. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Loraina is survived by her children, Lolene Smith-Clark (Steven), Joe Childers Jr., and John Childers (Ann). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Scott Smith (Suzanne), Todd Smith (Kerri), Kristy Taylor, Lori Bricker (Leo), Joe Childers III, Melissa Upchurch (Aaron), Lee Childers (Miki), along with numerous cherished step-grandchildren.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Ben Smith (Chloe), Allison Smith, Jackson Smith, Nicholas Taylor, Linda Marie Taylor, Zachary Bricker, Jackson Upchurch, Lilah Upchurch, and numerous step great-grandchildren. Loraina was also blessed with one great-great-grandchild, Gwendolyn Bricker, as well as two step great-great-grandchildren.
She additionally leaves behind multiple beloved Childers and Bludworth nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Loraina was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Joe E. Childers Sr.; her parents, Richard and Lenora Bludworth; her four siblings and their spouses; her daughter-in-law, Glenda Childers; son-in-law, Milton Smith; and several greatly beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Loraina’s life on Friday, May 15, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, located at 7500 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, Texas 77505, with funeral services immediately following. Services will be officiated by Dr. Charles Redmond and Jon Redmond and are under the direction of South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
Entombment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
Loraina’s century of life was a testament to faith, family, creativity, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, the beauty she brought into the lives of others and the memories she created will live on for generations to come.
