Sister Lois Jean Easter's Obituary
Lois Easter was born in Three Creeks, Arkansas, February
4, 1947, to Peola Reed and Garnett Smith. She was raised
by her loving grandmother, Ila Scott. She joined St. Phillips A.M.E.
at a young age and was raised in the fear and admonition of the
Lord.
Lois Jean Smith married Elisha Easter in 1963, and six children
were born from this union. Lois and Elisha relocated to Houston,
Texas, in 1970. Lois became a member of Bayou Estates
Missionary Baptist church, under the leadership of Rev.
Montgomery, (deceased) where she was a dedicated choir member.
She later joined Calvary Hill Baptist Church, under the leadership
of Rev. B.R. Williams, where she continued to minister through
music in the choir and use her gifts of creativity and encouragement.
Finally, in 2005 she became of member of Bethel World Outreach
Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Musa and Farmah
Korfeh, where she was a mother in the church and God used her
to encourage women in the ministry of marriage and song until the
Lord called her home.
She was preceded in death by Ila Scott, Peola Reed, Garnett
Smith, Sr., Margaret Guice, Doris Easter, Almeda Smith and
Barbara Lane.
Her loving memories will be forever cherished by her husband,
Elisha Easter; her six children, Ricky Easter, Pamela Easter-Haynes,
Sharonda Easter-Mbagwu, Tawana Easter, Latoya Easter-Udoji
and Darvin Easter; three sons-in-law, Reginald Haynes, Leonard
Mbagwu and Andy Udoji; brothers, Garnett Smith, Jr. of Houston,
Texas, Carl Smith of Marksville, Louisiana, Cliff White of Crossett,
Arkansas; and a sister, Valeria Pitts of New Port, Virginia; eleven
grandchildren, Francell Byrd,(the hero) Desmon Byrd, Tanisha
Harrison, Theo Harrison, Gabrielle Mbagwu, Taylor Mbagwu,
(BeBe) Jalen Tollfree, Asiha Carnes, Christopher Carnes, (CeCe),
Justin Udoji, Jacob Udoji; and four great-grandchildren, Kaden,
Jurney, KiAnna and Kloe; and a host of nieces and nephews, and
closest friends, Cynthia Ford, Mona Emmanuel and Shirley Villery.
