Mrs. Lois Laverne Cheek's Obituary
Lois Laverne Cheek, 87, passed away on October 14, 2011. She was born October 9, 1924, in Pearland to a pioneer family who settled in Pearland in its beginnings. Her parents were Louis and Clara Rutherford. Some of Lois' greatest milestones consist of living in Pearland for 87 years and graduating in 1942 from Pearland. Lois leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Harold Cheek; children, Frances Pye (Glen), Brenda Shaver (David) and Sherry Barnhart; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Hood and numerous nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, but most of all as the "rock" of the family.
