Lily,
It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I say goodbye. I’ve spent the past few days reflecting on the 13 years we shared working together, and although I departed from the organization a couple years ago, I always remembered how much you meant to our team.
When I first joined the team, we were both newbies to the profession, but we would shortly after become pillars in our SPD. Over the years, as our roles evolved, you became someone I not only respected but deeply relied upon. You were always there with your expertise, insight, and steady presence, and you played a critical role in making our team stronger and more effective.
You were invaluable to us. Your commitment to excellence and your dedication to our work made my job easier, but it was your integrity and compassion that made it a true pleasure to lead you. I knew sometimes you probably disliked how tough I would be on you, but I believe it was all worth it ;). Lily, you were never just a colleague—I truly trusted you as a friend.
The impact you had at HMH, on me, and on so many others is immeasurable. You set a standard of professionalism and care in your roles and as a woman that will continue to inspire many. While I feel immense sadness at your passing, I also feel gratitude for the years we spent working side by side.
I will always remember your kindness, warmth, the laughter we shared, the tough convos we had which made us both better, and your love for your family and close friends.. and I can’t leave out that loud cat sneeze! Lol. Thank you for being such an incredible part of my professional life. You will be missed more than words can express.
With deepest respect and fondest memories,
Kendell Brudey
