Lila Lee Boyd's Obituary
Lila Lee Boyd, 92, of Palestine, Texas went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. She was born in Houston, Texas on September 7, 1923 to Ivan E. and Margaret A. Stepleton.
She served as church secretary at Gulf Meadows Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, for many years and retired from Houston Independent School District She was a charter member of East Houston Chapter OES and was their first Worthy Matron. At the time of her death, she was a life member of Buffalo, Texas Chapter OES. In her younger years she enjoyed fishing in the Lakes around Athens. She and her husband enjoyed camping and made several tour bus trips to various places in the United Stated. She enjoyed playing dominoes and various card and board games with family and friends. Lila was a member of First Baptist Church in Buffalo, Texas and was attending Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Palestine, Texas with her son and daughter-in-law at the time of her death.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Larry J. Boyd and her son, Larry L. Boyd. She is survived by her son, David J. Boyd, and his wife Barbara, of Palestine, Texas; one grandson, David L. Boyd, of La Porte, Texas; two granddaughters, Kimberly D. Meverden and husband Andrew, of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Kristi L. Perkins and husband Richard, of Conroe, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Calen Boyd, Mason Boyd, Emma Meverde Alexander Meverden, Matthew Perkins, and Michael Perkins.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday evening, September 18, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 12:30 PM in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Grisham of First Baptist Church in Buffalo officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Lila's great grandchildren Calen Boyd, Mason Boyd, Emma Meverden, Alexander Meverden. Matthew Perkins, and Michael Perkins.
