Turner Jr., Lewis Woodson's Obituary
Our beloved Father, Lewis Woodson Turner, Jr., known by family as “Bucky” and known by friends as “Billy”, of South Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the age of 81 surrounded by his family.
Billy was born on October 28, 1942 in Lynchburg, Virginia to Ida Belle Saunders and Lewis Woodson Turner Sr.
Later Billy moved to South Houston, Texas where he lived there for fifty-plus years.
Billy married his first wife, Charlotte Susan Wiggins Garner on August 2, 1960. They had two sons: Lewis Cory Turner and Lewis Woodson Turner III/James Woodson Evors. He married his second wife Carrol Yvonne Woodward on March 3, 1972. Thereafter, he married late wife, Wilma Jean Christensen on January 1, 1976.
Billy is preceded in death by his Father, Lewis Woodson Turner Sr., Mother, Ida Belle Saunders; Wife, Wilma Jean Christensen; Stepmother, Frances Turner; Son, Lewis Cory Turner; Brother, Joseph Marvin Turner Sr. (Joe); and Half-brother, Rex Daryl Shelby.
Billy is survived by his son, Lewis Woodson Turner III/James Woodson Evors; Half-sister, Lana Shelby Letsinger and Deborah Guevara, Rita Alesi, and Darlene Foster; Nieces Margaret Toledo and husband Braulio, Threasa Turner and husband Moses; Great-niece Monica Turner; Nephews Joseph Turner, Paul Turner and wife Sue; Best Friends and Caregivers Rachael Saenz and husband Francisco Vargas who provided extraordinary love and care to Billy over five years with his long battle of Parkinson's disease; and many more Family Members and Friends.
Professionally, Billy worked at Southwestern Bell for many years. Later he transitioned to a different career as an outdoor communication technician in which he installed fiber optic cable lines in a great number of corporate buildings. This job required Billy to travel throughout the country for years at a time.
Billy was a very competent handyman. He did repairs or maintenance on anything that needed work around the house and at his friends’ homes.
Billy had various hobbies. He enjoyed arts and crafts. He had skills and talent making him an exceptional crafty guy. Billy also loved to talk about his sailboat and how he traveled from coast to coast.
His passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and riding his Girl Bike, which he made himself. These were his pride and joy. Billy would frequently be stopped by police officers, not for any violation, but curiously to take a closer look and inquire about his Girl Bike. Billy left many unforgettable stories.
He was proud of things he built with imagination and his hands. He produced things with the very best results he could, exceeding his own expectations.
Billy’s family would like to thank you for being a part of Billy’s life that made his life complete.
