Leroy Chiasson's Obituary
Leroy Chiasson Leroy Chiasson, age 90 and longtime resident of Pearland, peacefully passed away with family by his side on Saturday, June 28, 2025. He had recently been a resident at Morada Senior Living in Friendswood, along with his wife of 63 years, Joyce Chiasson. His last days were spent in hospice care at Laurel Court in Alvin. Leroy was born on February 2, 1935 in Morse, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Olidia Chiasson; sisters Willa Mae Spell and Shirley Abshire; brothers Daniel Chiasson and Michael Chiasson. He is survived by his wife Joyce Chiasson and his sister, Lynn Hundley; children Garland Chiasson, Guy Chiasson and Angela Alleman; grandchildren Michael Chiasson, Eric Chiasson, Axl Chiasson and William Chiasson; great-grandchildren Magnus Chiasson and Jeanne Chiasson. Leroy received his degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, after serving four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. While enlisted in the Marines, he served as a Jet Engine Mechanic and received both the National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medals, along with an honorable discharge. After serving in the Marines, he enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard where he was a squad leader and expert rifleman. His career path was directed towards insurance adjusting and sales, finally retiring in 2010 at the age of 75, with many accolades and awards in those respective industries. Leroy’s main hobby was traveling, as he and Joyce, along with other family members, managed to visit all fifty states. Aside from traveling, his main focus was on family and service to others. He was always present at family gatherings for all occasions, along with laughs and many stories. His zeal for service began in college, with memberships in Sigma Tau Gamma and Blue Key National Honor Fraternities. After graduating college, his service continued in various organizations to include: Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, Chairman of St. Helen’s Catholic Church Bazaar and serving in other fundraising capacities for the Church. His main passion though, was serving in The Knights of Columbus for 61 years. He had been a Knight since 1964, and obtained the 4th degree in the year 2000. He served in the Knight’s highest capacity as Deputy Grand Knight from 2009-2011. His Knight service awards include: Family of The Year in 2003, Grand Knight Award (2013, 2014, 2017) and Knight Of The Year in 2002. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Laurel Court and Elysian Hospice and their staffs for the wonderful care he received during his final days. Service arrangements are being managed through South Park Funeral Home of Pearland to include: Viewing from 5:00pm-8:30pm with Rosary at 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 9th, at South Park and Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Alvin, Texas at 10:30am, Thursday, July 10th.
