Leng Lim's Obituary
Leng Lim was born on February 5, 1944, in Sdav Ler Village, Kompong Cham Province, Cambodia, to Taek Lim and Hong Neang. He studied at Wat Sdav Ler Elementary and later Lip Khun Chinese academy before leaving school early to help support his family—a responsibility he accepted with quiet determination that guided him throughout his life.
As a teenager, he moved to Vihear Suo Village to live with relatives and trained as a bicycle technician. The work required patience, precision, and steady hands, qualities he embodied in all that he did. He later worked for a fabric merchant at Heap Sreng and eventually managed shipping logistics for Pkay Preuk, coordinating transport between Kompong Cham and Phnom Penh. Over time, he became someone others relied upon. He was steady, capable, and trustworthy. He did not seek praise, but he earned the respect of those around him.
In 1970, he married Hun Nhoep, the love of his life, just as Cambodia was drawn into civil war. They endured the fall of Phnom Penh and the hardships of the Khmer Rouge, facing displacement and uncertainty side by side. For 56 years, their marriage was rooted in loyalty, sacrifice, and quiet devotion. Together they rebuilt their lives, raised one son and four daughters, and created a home defined by resilience and love. Their eldest daughter, Eng, preceded him in passing.
Though his own education had been cut short, he believed deeply in opportunity and learning. He made sure his children attended school safely, rain or shine. He led with discipline, but also with care. His expectations came from belief in their potential. He worked tirelessly to provide stability after years when stability had once been uncertain.
Leng is survived by his beloved wife, Hun Nhoep; his children Pheng, Heang, Ny, and Malis; his grandchildren Borith, Pich, Matthew, Amanda, Erika, Andrew, Lisa, Darlene, Seakly, Carly, and Carson; and his great grandchildren Lily and Everett, whose lives reflect the opportunities he worked so hard to create.
He asked for little and gave everything to his family, always striving to provide and protect. His legacy lives on in the strong, loving family he built. Though his work on this Earth is complete, he will be deeply missed.
Dear sentinel, your watch has ended
Your duty is over, so rest easy
Your steadfastness, we have depended
Your memory, we will cherish dearly
Your descendants have all grown
Your hardwork bore fruit
Abandon the wheelchair, your legs groan
Put on your shoes and give a farewell salute
