Mr. Lee Luke Barbier's Obituary
Lee Luke Barbier, 92, of Pearland died July 13, 2007. Lee was the cash supervisor at Gulf Oil Company for 29 years. After his retirement he continued to work at Gulf Oil Credit Union for an additional five years. He was active in the Mount Carmel Church Federal Credit Union. He served in the Army from 1940 to1945 as a medic, beginning in Casablanca, landing on Omaha beach on D-Day plus one, through the Battle of the Bulge ending the war in the former Czechoslovakia. Lee was a devoted husband and father; serving as a Cub Scout Master, managing several pee-wee baseball teams and rising at 5am on weekends to help his sons with their paper routes. He continued to drive, play golf and bowl every week through his 92nd year. He enjoyed cheering the Astros and watching every football, golf and tennis match televised. He was preceded in death by Marie Dolney Barbier, his wife of 39 years, brothers Joe and Wallace, sisters Mamie and Mary Ann. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Vera Kennedy Barbier, her two sons David and Clifford and his sons Alan of Denver, CO, Bob (Denise) of Louisville, KY and Don (Paula) of Studio City, CA., and his grandchildren Tara and Chad of Denver, CO and Travis and Claire of College Station, TX and his brother George and sister Ruby. A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday at St Helen's Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, Texas with a reception immediately following.
