Laura Jean Morgan's Obituary
Laura Jean Kroeger Morgan: loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on May 2nd, 2025, at the age of 94.
She was born on March 3rd, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, where she lived until the age of 15 when she and her father moved to Houston, TX. She attended Milby High School where she graduated in 1948. Soon after, she met and married William Arthur Morgan, and together they had four children.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer for many years. She made sure all four of her children attended church, always sitting right up front. Upon moving to Pearland in 1997, she joined Crossroads Methodist Church. She was an active member attending Sunday School and Church Service.
Laura was an active volunteer at Memorial Southeast Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of the Tri-County Republican Women Group where she headed the Hospitality Committee and a member of the Golfcrest Country club where she and her family shared many meals and celebrations. In her children's younger years, she was a member of the PTA at Pyburn Elementary School. She loved to be social and a part of activities.
Laura was a quilter and made each of her children and grandchildren a quilt. She enjoyed making quilts and they were displayed in her home. Her family was the most important thing to her, and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. She was a strong woman and will always be known by those who knew her as a sweet lady.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Morgan, and daughters, Rebecca Morgan and Melinda Benoit.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Morgan, her son William Arthur Morgan Jr., and son-in-law David Benoit. Her three grandchildren: Marci Renee Craig Hopkins (Raymond Hopkins), Kelsey Allison Benoit Kibodeaux (Daniel Kibodeaux), and Jessie Nicole Benoit Hayes (Lorenzo Hayes). Her six great-grandchildren: Matthew Hopkins, Grace Hopkins, Grayson Kibodeaux, Lucien Kibodeaux, Coltrane Hayes, and Miles Hayes.
