Mr. Larry Jinks' Obituary
Larry Carlton Jinks was born on January 20, 1951 in Waco, Texas. He lived in Louisville, Kentucky for the first years of his life before his family settled in Houston where he spent the next years. In 1999 he moved his family from the Houston area to Sachse where he lived out his life. He had many roles in his life; son, big brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend to so many. He followed his father's example - both of them - Heavenly and earthly. Larry took pride in doing a good job at everything he tried, but his real joy in life came from serving in the church where he was an ordained minister, a missionary in Hawaii, worked with youth groups, led revivals, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and worked in the sound and video booth. He devoted his life to serving God in so many ways, he was there whether the doors were open or someone needed his help and he instilled that love of God and service in everyone in his family. Larry always had his priorities in the right order. God, family, friends and the next project on the list, whether it was building his house, wood-working, photography, gardening or any other handy project. He will be remembered by so many - not because of the things he accomplished or could be recognized for- but rather by the number of people he could truly call a friend and who were touched by his Godly and happy spirit. Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents Nancy and William Hurst and Hattie and Charles Jinks; and his parents Danna and William Jinks. He is survived by his wife, Patricia ; his children Georgana and Bryan Jinks, his sisters Sharis Hauder and husband Bernie and Darla Honea and husband Barron; sister and brother-in-law Beverly and William Sleep; and nieces Jennifer, Melissa, Sara, Mary and Catherine; nephews Jack, John and Jason.
Services will be held in Houston Sunday November 20th at 3:00pm at Grace Theatre, and in Dallas on November 29th at 7:00pm at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson. The family will have a small private graveside service Sunday morning.
