KATHY DEANN JOHNSTON
BORN 11-22-1958 DIED 10-16-2024
Born to H. D. "Buck" Johnston and Margery A. Johnston of Pearland
At birth, heart and other problems required Kathy be put in an incubator. Drs. told the family to
take her home and she might live a couple of years. She developed cataracts which led to
blindness to go along with mental handicaps.
With prayers, love, and support of her family, neighbors, and community, those couple of years
reached almost 66.
Kathy attended special education classes taught by Mrs. Sarah Oliver. Her class was one of the
earliest in Pearland School special education and was held in what originally was the home
economics cottage on the Pearland Elementary campus.
Buck passed away in 2003 and Margery in 2010. Kathy transitioned to the care of the Forgotten
Angels organization and lived in the home of Gladora Lewis who became her "second mom",
Kathy enjoyed taking walks, chocolate shakes,listening to her radio, and having family and friends
visit.
Kathy is survived by her brothers, Jerry (Janet), Randy (Cindy), Ricky (Liz), nieces Erin and
Johanna, nephews Andrew, Nathan, and Larry, caregiver Gladora Lewis, and numerous extended
family.
