Mrs. Kathryn Renfrow Carpenter's Obituary
Kathryn Lurline Thompson Renfrow Carpenter, 91, passed peacefully into the everlasting arms of the Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Grandmimmi as she was known to her family was born in Markham, Texas and later lived in Alvin where she graduated and attended Alvin Community College. She became a war bride when she married J.R. “Doc” Renfrow in 1943. The two of them ran Renfrow Grocery in Alvin and then in Manvel for over 40 years. Later she worked for and retired from Texas Instruments. After “Doc’s” death in 1977 she married Doug Carpenter who also preceded her in death. Lurline and Doc had two daughters. Their first bundle of joy was Floana who blessed them with 4 grandsons; Joseph, Warren, Monte and Robert. The 4 boys gave them 10 great-grandchildren; Jonathan, Gabriel, Carrie, Tracy Lynn, Shauna, Tawny, Jansen, Kimberly, Brione and Savannah. Janice was their 2nd daughter; she married Jimmie Del Bello, they have 2 sons; Chris and Shawn. Chris has 4 children; Chelsea, Christopher, Madison and Reese. Shawn has 3 children; Miles, Bristol and Kaylee. Miles has 1 daughter; Macy. Lurline is also survived by sister Dorothy Esteve and beloved niece Kay Frugia. A special thank you to Joseph Allen’s wife Regina whom she loved very much and who often helped care for her during her illness. Visitation will be Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home 1310 North Main St., Pearland, Texas 77581. A funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM.
