Karen L. Smith's Obituary
Karen L. Smith entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on July 29,2020 at the age of 56. Karen was born in Houston, Texas to Donald and Edith Wenk on February 5,1964.
Karen graduated high school from South Houston, then went to San Jacinto Collage to become an RN and graduated in 1988. Karen was a dedicated nurse for over 30 years and enjoyed taking care of people. She spent her last 22 years working at Medical Clinic of Houston where she made many lifelong friends. She became an EMT and volunteered at Southeast Fire Department where she along with her best friend, Colleen operated the Rehab truck for
the Firefighters.
She was also very dedicated to her family. One of her favorite things to do was spend time with her family and friends. Karen was a very loving mom, wife, sister, aunt, and sister in law. She had a knack for making those around her feel special. Every time we saw Karen, she had a smile on her face. She was truly special to her family and friends, and an amazing
woman to all who knew her.
Her passions included taking trips to the hill country with her husband, camping with her family, family outings at the park, and one of her favorite things to do was shop. Karen sure had a way of making life interesting for her family and friends, to say the least.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Edith Wenk. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Phil; her son, Christopher; and daughter, Meghan all from Houston; brother, Kenneth Wenk from Lake Livingston; sister Kathy Wilkinson from Onalaska; and numerous nieces and nephews.
