Karen Fulford's Obituary
This is (mostly) Karen on Karen, as she wrote her own obituary back in 2022, with some blanks left for us to fill in. Karen McJunkin Fulford was born on November 6, 1935, and went home to be with her Lord on January 28, 2024.
Karen was born in Forsyth Montana, the tenth of eleven children–six girls and five boys. She was the youngest daughter and the only redhead of six girls. To her, this was a curse she had to overcome. She was often told (in teasing I hope) that she had been adopted She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Gladys Mc Junkin of Park City Montana, her husband Jim Fulford of 35 years, four sisters, and five brothers. She is survived by her sister Donna VanVeckhovan of Denham Springs, LA., four daughters - JoLynn Cooley, Heidi Urich, Wendy Fulford, Cathy Schreiber, and son Joe Overbaugh. She has eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Karen spent much of her life working but after retirement, her interests were in arts and crafts. She got much pleasure out of quilting and making greeting cards in her last years. She enjoyed her life with Crossroads Baptist Church – Precepts Bible Studies, Women of Worship, Steel Magnolia’s Sunday School, and the many friends she made through the years. Her life was simple, and she liked it that way.
One of Karen’s favorite verses was Isa 30:21 Listen, and your ear shall hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way: Walk in it.” Karen started listening to the Lord in the 90s and God led her to faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Later, God led her to Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands in 1998. In lieu of flowers, she would love gifts to be sent to Crossroads Baptist Church 5000 College Park Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77384 (936) 273-5683. Her service will be at Crossroads on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 10 am.
