Mrs. June Jackson's Obituary
Flora “June” Jackson (6/08/24-6/06/15)
June Jackson, born June 8, 1924, to Winnie and Terrell Sanford Hutto, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2015, with her children at her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Jerry (JJ) Jackson and her three children, Barbara Mercer and spouse, Jim, of Pearland, her son, Ron Jackson of Atlanta, GA, and daughter, Pam Hokanson and spouse, David, of Pearland. She is also survived by her brother, Don Hutto and spouse, Nancy, of Nashville, TN. Her grandchildren include Scott Mercer and spouse, Sally, Brady Mercer and spouse, Mandy, Jerry Hokanson and spouse, Rowan, James Hokanson, and Kim Hokanson-Cho and spouse Vincent Cho. Great grandchildren are William Mercer and June Anne and Henry Hokanson-Cho. She loved her many nieces and nephews and considered them her grandchildren as well.
June and JJ married on December 6, 1941, the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor. June’s devotion in life was to JJ and her family. She was dedicated to raising her family in a Christian home and taught her children compassion, a sense of responsibility, and to love and respect their fellow man. She was loved and admired by all of her children’s friends, taking an active role in chaperoning parties and events, and they thought of June as another Mom. June had a great love for children and has especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
June made lasting impressions on so many people throughout her rich life. On her last move to Brookdale, she was made an ambassador to welcome new residents, where she made everyone feel welcome with her sweet smile. She and JJ had many homes around Texas - from Borger, to Arlington, College Station, Midway, Alto, Brazoria, Trinity, Hemphill and finally Pearland. Wherever June and JJ were together was home. They enjoyed their travels in their RV, from South Fork, Colorado to the Valley in South Texas and made many, many friends along the way. They had a lot of fun for years square dancing. They enjoyed an Alaskan Cruise with her brother Don and his wife Nancy and for their 60th wedding anniversary, a Caribbean cruise with all their children and extended family. The Methodist Church was very important to her and especially the A.Frank Smith Methodist Church in Alto.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
