Julio Salazar's Obituary
Julio Salazar, beloved father, brother, friend and role model to many. He was a proud Texan from Port Isabel and resided in Alvin since the 90’s. Julio Salazar, passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2026, at the age of 66 due to a sudden medical event.
Julio Salazar, born to Rita and Gerardo Salazar on June 28, 1959. Julio graduated from Port Isabel high school in 1978, and earned an associate's in applied science degree, livestock and ranch management, in March 1980, to which he applied towards his passion for caring for his cows, sheep, and horses throughout his lifetime. Julio also maintained a position at Geon solutions (formerly Poly one) for over 20 years as a lab technician, until his passing, and held many certifications including to not limited to, radiological handling and safety, fire training safety, first aide, and fire training as a volunteer firefighter.
Julio is survived by his children, Jonathan Salazar and Elizabeth Salazar; and by his siblings, Jaime Salazar, Juanita Salazar, Reymundo Salazar, Gerardo Salazar, Javier Salazar, and Irma Salazar.
Julio was predeceased by his mother and father, Gerardo and Rita Salazar.
Julio was known for his love of his animals, his children, and his land, which he held dearly to himself, and wished to share with his children. He was known for his outwardly firm but pleasant demeanor, but at home, he radiated a warmth and humor that anybody, friends or family, could enjoy, and share. As well, Julio was a guiding light and fatherly figure to many throughout the years. His generosity would also be expressed in many ways, including donating blood whenever he could. Every so often, his playful and goofy side would shine through, bringing laughter and unforgettable moments to the people he loved most. Those moments are memories his family will forever hold close to their hearts.
