Judith Ann Miles' Obituary
Judith (Judy) Ann Latting Miles went to be with Jesus on January 30, 2024. She was born May
10, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and grew up in the Meridian, Mississippi area. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Louise Latting. She is survived by her husband of
nearly 60 years, Robert (Bobby) Miles; her two children: Michael Miles and his wife, Diana and
Alicia Phelps, and her husband Ken; her grandchildren: Desnee Miles, Drew Miles and his wife,
Bella, Mark Miles, Mason Miles, and Quentin (Q) Phelps; Julie Boston McGrath, like a daughter
to Judy, Pastor John Shivers, like a son to Judy; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Nell Corbett; her
many nieces, nephews, and cousins; her best friend, Marian Morrison, and dear family friend,
Mike Fields, and her beloved fur baby, Gretchen.
We celebrate Judy’s life and her impact on so many hearts. She genuinely saw the good in
people, and always demonstrated compassion and listened with empathy yet without
judgment. She invested much of her time helping people through various trials. Judy was an
eternal optimist as she boldly encouraged others about how Jesus breaks chains, brings peace,
and changes lives.
Judy loved her family, friends, and church. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds,
listening to windchimes, shopping, and playing canasta/cards. She was always reading her Bible
and praying for others. On the lighter side, Judy’s family & close friends will always remember her great cooking…ever tasted her Texas Trash or the family favorite…spaghetti? And what a lover of shoes she was, how many hundreds did she own? And what will the Amazon drivers do with their free time
now?
Judy was a wonderful wife, caring mother, loving Memaw, & precious friend in so many
ways—a constant encourager, always available, and incredibly honest even if the truth was
difficult to hear. We will all miss her dearly.
A celebration of Judy’s life will occur on February 6, 2024, at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N.
Main Street, in Pearland, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., the Celebration of Life will begin
at 10 a.m., and the Graveside Service will begin at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to “Sagemont Building Fund” would be a wonderful way to
remember Judy and may be mailed to: Sagemont Church, 11300 S. Sam Houston Pkwy E,
Houston, TX 77089.
