Mrs. Juanita Frances Adams' Obituary
Juanita Frances Adams, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 14 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dr. Edward B. Adams. Juanita was born on January 1, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Cecelia and Martin Kornblatt. When Juanita was 18 months old her family moved to Houston. At the age of 7, her father was killed in an automobile accident, leaving her mother to raise their 3 small girls. Juanita taught elementary school for Houston Independent School District for 32 years. After retiring, she worked side by side with her husband at United Missionary Services and International Christian Institute, both of which were founded by Dr. Adams. They loved to travel in their leisure time and have visited Korea and the Holy Land. The two of them have also sailed from Houston to the Bahamas on their sailboat, Rag Doll. Juanita is survived by a daughter, Carol Matthews; a son, Robert Adams and his wife, Judy; grandchildren Stacy Guerra and husband, Mike; Kimberly Wienken and husband, Charles; Travis Matthews; Jason Matthews; and Michael Matthews; great grandchildren, Cameron and Nicole Guerra; and a niece and 4 nephews. Mrs. Adams is pre-deceased by her parents; her 2 sisters, Marian Grissom and Elaine Laha, and son-in-law Chuck Matthews.
Services will be held on Monday, October 20 at 2 p.m. at South Park Funeral Home. Visitation to be held from 1-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/texas.
