Mrs. Joyce Ann Jenkins' Obituary
Joyce Jenkins a bold, God fearing, charitable, vigorous, vivacious and loving wife, daughter, mother and caring friend made her transition from earth to glory on September 28, 2018 in Houston, TX at the age of 66.
Joyce was an only child born on April 14, 1952 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Reverend Dr. Milton and Evangelist Audrey Walker. She graduated from Prince Georges High School in 1970.
Joyce married her best friend of 36 years David W. Jenkins and they embarked upon a career in the Army. They traveled across the world where she worked for the Federal Government and retired as a Financial Specialist.
Joyce had impeccable creative skills and flourished when it came to special events and holiday décor. She was a joyous servant, generous and dedicated soul who loved to spread the word of God to each and every person she encountered and was passionate about it.
In 1995 she became a member of New Creation Christian Fellowship under the Pastorate of Bishop David M. Copeland and Pastor Claudette A. Copeland. She was an active and faithful member and served until she relocated to Virginia. She served as an usher, was on the intercessory prayer team, was over the young adult usher board, and often volunteered at the local Sam’s shelter.
She is preceded in death by her mother Evangelist Audrey M. Walker, survived by her father, Reverend Dr. Milton M. Walker in El Paso, Texas; husband David W. Jenkins; children, Kelly Hunter (Wilfred), Warren Jenkins (Kelly), Jason Jenkins, Sarah Jenkins and Stacy Robertson (Robert). She was the grandmother of 11 beautiful grandchildren Joycelynne Williams, Wilfred Hunter III, Wilaceea Hunter, Warren Jenkins Jr., Jazmine Jenkins, Marina Jenkins, Jade Jenkins, Sariyah Jenkins, Viviana Jenkins, Rafael Johnson and Michael Anthony.
Her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator, dearly miss her.
A funeral is scheduled on October 8, 2018 at 9:30 A.M at SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland, TX. The burial to follow will be held at Houston’s Veteran Memorial Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038 at 1:00 P.M.
