Joshua Ray Estes' Obituary
Joshua Ray Estes, age 46, of Pearland, Texas passed away peacefully on February 24, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was known as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, coach and a faithful follower of his savior Jesus Christ.
Josh was born April 16, 1976, in Houston, to Ray and Jackie Estes. He graduated from Pearland High School then attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in religion and met his loving wife, Angela. They settled in Pearland where they led a beautiful life together for 20 years raising three wonderful children.
Known amongst his peers and loved ones to be a dedicated family man, Josh sought to be involved in every aspect of his children’s lives. From coaching and cheering them on at sporting events or school performances to attending church with them weekly at New Hope Church in Manvel, Josh ensured his children knew he was their number one fan and cared profoundly about their passions and futures.
Anyone who interacted with Josh knew he was a committed Astros fan. He was also an avid collector of sports memorabilia and loved building Lego sets and watching movies.
Josh was an exemplary employee and worked hard to care for his family. Most recently, he worked in supply chain management for Texas Children’s Hospital. Previously, he held other management positions and even served as a part-time youth minister.
For eight years, Josh dedicated countless volunteer hours to the Pearland Little League and held numerous positions for the association, including vice president. He was also vice president of the Pearland Oiler Cross Country and Track Booster Club and was in charge of pictures, video, and social media for the teams.
Josh’s life epitomized great devotion – first to his Father in heaven and second to his family. He touched many lives, which was evident in the months following his cancer diagnosis when hundreds of friends and relatives rallied behind him becoming known as “The Force Behind Josh.”
Josh is preceded in death by his grandparents Aubrey and Mertice Estes; grandparents Lester and Lorraine Smith; and cousins Wayne Olin and Andrew Olin.
Josh is survived by his wife, Angela; children, Caed (17), McKinley (13) and Grady (10); parents, Ray and Jackie Estes; brother, Adam Estes, his wife Lori and their children Aubri and Cooper; in-laws, Troy and Debra Stanley; sister-in-law, Dorthea Herndon, her husband Chris and their children Andrew and Noah; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
