Josephine Howard's Obituary
Josephine Howard was born in Galveston Texas on June 26, 1935. She was the middle child of Augustus and Ann Cotera. Josephine graduated from Santa Fe High School class of ’53 and attended Texas State University. She married the love of her life, Donald Howard in 1954, a wonderful marriage that lasted until his death in 2017. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth and Cherie, her brother Augustus S. Cotera Jr (Karen) and sister Rita Brooks (Edward), Nieces: Carol Shippy, (Keith) Angela Cotera Hulett, (Mark), Jennifer Motes, (Mark), Nephew: Eric Brooks, (Sheri).
Josie worked as a long-term sub in the Santa Fe school district for five years. When the family was transferred to the San Fernando Valley, she worked in personnel of the May Company of California. Upon the family’s return to Texas, Josie worked in human resources for Lord and Taylor and later at Joske’s (Dillards). She spent the greater portion of her working career as the personnel human resources director of the Adam’s Mark Hotel. She retired in 2002 and spent her time playing her favorite tunes on the piano and volunteering with the Arabian Riders and Breeders Society. She also enjoyed gardening and visiting with her large family of friends and cousins.
Visitation and rosary will be held at St. Helen’s Parish in Pearland at 12pm. A funeral Mass will follow at 1pm. Internment at Resurrection Cemetery at 2pm.
Fr. Phillip Wilhite will officiate.
