Mr. Joseph Paul Tittsworth Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph Paul Tittsworth, Sr., 84, moved on to another life on Tuesday,December 23, 2014. He was born in Houston on April 5, 1930 to John Henry Sr. and Helen Jane (Scroggins) Tittsworth.
He grew up during the Great Depression on the East side of Houston. Joseph, as a youth, would squirrel hunt along Wallisville Rd in the Denver Harbor area. He was a graduate of the original Sam Houston High School Tigers, 1949. He was one of the cheerleaders for the football team. Shortly after graduation he married Charlene Reimers. They had two children, Joseph Paul Tittsworth, Jr. and Bonnell Diane’ (Tittsworth) Templet. After he married Charlene he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. When he was honorably discharged he went to work for the Railroad but later changed jobs to the Goodyear Chemical Plant in Houston. He eventually retired from Goodyear after starting a real estate business and becoming a landlord. After Charlene passed away he spent the majority of his life afterwards as a bachelor until just five years ago when he married, Veronica Montemayor. They lived happily ever after until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Tittsworth, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Veronica; his children, Joseph Paul Tittsworth, Jr. and Bonnell Diane (Tittsworth) Templet & husband James; one sister, Esther Skinner and husband Floyd; step children in the Phillipines, Christine (Cheena), Constantino (Franco) and Christopher (Chico); 3 grand-daughters, Rebekah (Templet) Henry and husband John, Jessica (Templet) Henshaw and husband Charles, Ashley Tittsworth; step grand-children in the Phillipines, Christian, Adrian, Andrew, Andrei and Trevor; 6 great grand-children, Faith Henry, Landon Huber, Kevin Huber, Sarah Henry, Blake White, Brinley Henshaw; numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.
During the summers of the 1960’s he would take his family on vacation trips to Huntsville State Park and Garner State Park. These were fun times for all members of his family. One of his favorite sports was water skiing which he did with his friends at work regularly. He taught his children how to water ski. He loved to fish and go RV'n and camping out everywhere. He worked extremely hard to ensure his family would be financially secure. He not only worked full time for Goodyear Chemical Plant but also for the Houston Docks as a checker. He needed these two jobs in order for monthly bills to be paid.
He enjoyed having his high school class reunions every year. He also enjoyed interacting with all the past classmates and just having fun and food. He was a Mason for many years and eventually a Shriner. One of his greatest joys was helping all the children by driving for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston transporting children to and from the Hospital.
