Mrs. Josefa F. Canamar's Obituary
On, 3rd November, 2018, Josefa (Pepa) Fuentes Canamar left this earth and joined the loved ones who have gone before her. Josefa was born to Santiago Fuentes and Anita Nuncio Fuentes on 5th of March, 1922 in Knippa, TX. She grew up in Uvalde, TX and traveled and worked around the country as a migrant farmer. She met her husband, the father of her children, Juan Marroquin Canamar, they married in December 1949 and raised 3 children in Texas.
Josefa is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Marroquin Canamar, her parents, Santiago Fuentes and Anita Nuncio Fuentes and 5 brothers, many cousins and friends.
Josefa is survived by her son, Rafael Santiago Canamar; her daughter in law Laura Sanchez Canamar, her daughter, Clicieria Lopez and her husband; her daughter Delia Canamar and her stepson Martin Vela and his wife.
She is remembered fondly by her grandchildren, Valerie Moncada, her husband Oscar and their 2 children; John Albert Canamar, his wife Ana, their 5 children and 1 granddaughter; Marina Kora Rodriguez, her husband Jeffery and their 3 children; Johnathon J Leos and his 2 daughters; Ruth Elizabeth Castillo Dean, her husband William and their 2 daughters; Sarah Victoria Castillo; Julia Perez and her husband Robert; Crystal Rose Vela and her son. Josefa will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
During her lifetime, Josefa was active in numerous religious and civic organizations. As a young woman she was an active member of “las Hacheras”. This organization worked to raise funds to help the needy in the community during the 40s. She also belonged to the “Hijas de Maria” a religious group for young women of the Catholic faith and during her marriage, she with her husband belonged to the “Guadalupanos”. During her golden years Josefa was a member of the Girl Scouts of America and served as “grandma” and example to the girls in her troop. Pepa was always willing to learn and lend a hand.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM. All Services will be held at SouthPark Funeral Home & Cemetery.
