I didn’t have a chance to share (write) a memory last week for José Manuel Salazar but I did want to say that it made my week along with sadness to attend the Wake & give my deepest condolences to Mrs. Luna- mother, Sandra- sister, Eduardo- brother, this past Friday. I was happy that Mrs. Luna remembered me & it was nice to share memories of our late teenage years like me standing w/ Sandra in quinceañeras & talking about how Joe & Eduardo would call me Tejano because they knew I loved the music. Two memories I’d like to share about Jose’ is that about 7 years ago I spoke to Jose over the phone & I told him how I was very sorry that I hadn’t had a chance to get with him as I had been busy but that I do think of him. He replied to me that “he knows that I’m a family man and that he was happy for me and not to worry about that”. That’s what you call a great friend as I thought he was going to get on me but I could her it in his voice how sincere he was about what he had told me. The other memory is that this past late September another great friend of mine, Will De La Garza text me that he and Joe we’re going to be playing in 2ND Ward but I could not make it as I was out of the state with my wife, helping our daughter move into her college apartment. I did tell Will to tell Joe that I said hello and I am thinking of him and then I made sure a few weeks later on when I text with Will to ask him if he had remembered to tell Joe that I said hello and he said he did and I wish I would’ve asked Will for Joe’s cell number as I was honestly meaning to call him or text him. Will did send me some video of that concert in Second Ward and let me tell you, I was so impressed on how Joe was performing & how he has come a long way in the music industry. I couldn’t wait to tell Joe that he had made it as a musician & that his vocals & instruments not only sounded good in Spanish but they sounded good in English as well. I also want to include that Joe did an awesome job 23 years ago at my wedding as he was our DJ. I am so glad to have met Joe and I will miss him but he will always be in my memories and we’ll see him later. Rest in Peace José Manuel Salazar. I’d like to include a photo that Mark Luna, another great friend of mine sent me this past weekend of great times we had together. God bless us all and this is from Robert (Tejano) Cavazos✝️🪦🙏
