Mr. Jose Lopez Rodriguez's Obituary
Jose Lopez Rodriguez, 69, was a twin son born to Agapito and Cipriana Rodriguez on October 25, 1944 in Sugarland, TX. He died on April 22, 2014 in Pasadena, TX. He was known as "Joe" and was raised in Alvin, Tx. He graduated from Alvin High School, as a child he enjoyed playing baseball on the sandlots and was fond of telling everyone that Nolan Ryan was one of his teammates. After graduation, he attended college in Florida, where he pursued an interest in photography. He later joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly flew B-52's, while serving his country in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he began working at Atlantic Richfield Chemical Company. There he was known as "Joe Rod". He eventually retired from the same company, which had become Lyondell-Citgo. He was married once in his lifetime to Catalina H. Acevedo and entered immediately into fatherhood by becoming a father to her little girl. They had two children together and he worked many hours to provide for his family. He always encouraged his children to be the best that they could be. A good education was very important to him. He became a Mason, like his father. He knew the importance of attending Sunday school and church, although his work schedule made it difficult for him to attend. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting with his life-long best-friend, Tino Garcia. He is survived by his children, Patricia (Patrick) Sloan, Joseph and Veronica Rodriguez; grandchildren, Patricia, Elizabeth, Patrick (Sloan), Anthony, Jeremy, Joe and Isabel (Ponce). He is also survived by his siblings, Sarah (Joe) Morales, Manuel Rodriguez, Rebecca Gutierrez, Florinda Espinoza, David (Virginia) Rodriguez, and many nieces and nephews.
