Jose I. De La Garza's Obituary
Jose I. De La Garza, beloved son, brother, husband, father, cousin, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, died peacefully surrounded by his loving and caring family on December 17, 2022.
Jose was born in Weslaco, Texas on June 17, 1928 to Auturo and Laurentina. He joined the U.S. Army just out of high school where he proudly served in the Korean War. He also served a stint in the Army National Guard. After serving in the armed forces, Jose worked as a Border Patrol agent, various other jobs and retired in security.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Roy, Auturo, Benny, Hector, Eloy and his sisters Berta, Teresa and Laura. Jose is also preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Maria Teresa and his son Rene. Jose is survived by his daughter, Norma (Rudy), his daughter, Nydia and his son, Robert. He is also survived by his sister, Mary(Joe) and numerous nieces and nephews, his grandchildren Evangelina “Nina” Marie (Noel), Julian (Vanessa), Cathy, Adrian (Chelsea), Danny (Karen), Ashley (Ashley), Matthew and Brianna and his great grandchildren, Jadyn, Andrew, Abby, Ricardo, Noah, Evella, Derek, Emilia, Brody, Catalina and Arian.
Jose lived a long happy and wonderful life. Always smiling and laughing and eager to tell anyone who would listen stories about life with his wonderful parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins and friends, his life in the service and how he met his beautiful bride. Jose’s stories always came to life with his joy and laughter.
Jose is the epitome of live, laugh and love. He never knew a stranger and he made everyone he met feel special and like he had known them forever. God granted Jose a long, wonderful and happy life and allowed him an ending we all wish for, filled with love, happiness and laughter.
Rest in Peace Dad, you will always be missed.
