Jonathan "Jay" Quinal Johnson's Obituary
Jonathan “Jay” Quinal Johnson, born on May 15, 1981, in Geneva, New York, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024. He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, a loyal friend, and a dedicated professional.
Jay graduated from J. Frank Dobie High School, class of '99, in Houston, Texas, and went on to serve in the United States Army for a remarkable 8 1/2 years on Active Duty, followed by 6 years in the Reserves. His commitment to duty and service exemplified his character.
He is survived by his loving family: his father, Quinal Johnson Jr., and his mother, Willie Louise Johnson. Jay’s legacy lives on through his children: his daughter, Jayliana Brown-Johnson, and his two sons, Kyan Hamilton and Savien Jaro Johnson. His siblings, Wanda Johnson-Hillard (Rodney Hillard), Ashley Johnson, and Quinal Johnson, share cherished memories of their brother. Jay’s close friend, Vankesha L.A. Isaac, stood by him through thick and thin, and his aunt, Emily Mitchell, provided unwavering support; he also leaves behind his cousins, Tony Bacon, Myles Calvin, and Tramayce Turk; his children's mothers, Sharon Brown, Starla Hamilton, and Analyn Jaro Johnson, whom held a special place in his heart; he also leaves many other cousins, relatives and a host of dear friends.
Professionally, Jay worked for Science and Engineering Services (SES) in Huntsville, Alabama. His role involved traveling to various states and countries, performing critical aviation maintenance on aircrafts alongside his dedicated team.
Jay’s passing occurred after he attended the MLK parade, where he proudly watched his son, Savien, play in the Ortiz Middle School Band. His memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, we remember Jay’s kindness, resilience, and unwavering spirit. He will be dearly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him. May his memory continue to inspire us to cherish life and embrace the bonds of friendship.
