Mr. Johnny "John" Walter Mikeska's Obituary
Johnny "John" Walter Mikeska, 77, of Pearland, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009. John was born and grew up in the Orchard/Rosenberg area and lived in Pearland for the past 45 years. John is survived by his 6 children; son and daughter-in-law Stephen M. and Elsa Mikeska; son and daughter-in-law Guy N. and Tammy Mikeska; son and daughter-in-law Carl P. and Angie Mikeska; son and daughter-in-law Shawn F. and Lesley Mikeska; daughter and son-in-law Emilia E. and Gilbert Freitag; son and daughter-in-law Virgil T. and Patricia Mikeska; special friend Edna Bennett; and 14 Grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Josephine "Jodi" Mikeska and grandson Stephen Mitchell Mikeska. John loved God, his family and his country and served in the Navy following high school, attended U of H and worked for Summers Electric for 42 years. John was very involved in his children's activities over the years, especially Little League Baseball at the Dad's Club; he was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church. John was also a member of the Czech Heritage Society, enjoyed Polka Dances and loved his Czech Music. We wish to express appreciation to Light Heart Memory Care, The Cottages of Clear Lake and Lighthouse Hospice for their sincere love and support they gave to John and our family. For those desiring, the family suggests donations be made to St. Helen Catholic School, Pearland, Texas or to Alzheimer's Association in John Mikeska's memory. In celebration of his life the family will receive family and friends on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland TX 77581 with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A Polka Mass will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:00 pm at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland Texas 77581. Rite of Committal will follow at South Park Catholic Cemetery.
