John Arthur Price's Obituary
John (Papa) Arthur Price
September 27, 1943 – November 4, 2022
John “Papa” Arthur Price was born on September 27, 1943 to Velma Mae Gill and John Cadori Price in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended Houston Independent School District and was a proud alumnus of Jesse Jones High School, Class of 1962. He had many years of college but could never settle on one major. John married Judy Carolyn on June 25, 1966. They have one child, daughter Jennifer Elaine, and one grandson, Tristan Bradley. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved math, woodworking, learning about other cultures, learning foreign languages, and reading, especially science fiction. He had a great sense of humor and liked nothing better than laughing at a well-told joke.
John had hereditary heart disease. He received a heart transplant on September 12, 1995. He lived another twenty-seven remarkable years with the gift of the transplanted heart. He volunteered with The Heart Exchange for years providing support and information to people awaiting heart transplants.
He had three sisters of his own – Sarah, Patricia, and Suzanne. Marriage to Judy gave him two more sisters – Lou and Marsha, and three brothers – Johnny, Bill, and Steve. He provided support, advice, a shoulder, and much love to all of them and never saw any difference between being related by blood and related by marriage.
John is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Jennifer, grandson Tristan and his wife Brianna. He is also survived by his sister Sarah and her husband Mottie, sister Suzanne, sister Marsha, brother Steve and his wife Christine, the much-loved aunt Mary Ellen and her husband Robert, Bill’s widow Barbara, and Lou’s widower Dale. There are many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, (with more to come), friends, and bountiful loved ones.
He touched lives. He leaves us with a treasure box of wonderful memories. He will be missed.
