John Russell Isiminger's Obituary
John Russell Isiminger, 72, entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2025. He was born in Moundsville, WV on July 18, 1952 to Wilbur Mason Isiminger and Valta “Susie” Madelyn Miller.
John attended Linsly Military Institute (now The Linsly School) in Wheeling, WV, graduating in 1970. Afterward, he attended West Virginia University for a year before transferring to West Liberty University. He was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. He completed biology courses in 1974, discovering an interest in mechanical and environmental engineering.
He began his career in his teens at Western Auto, showing expertise in lawn mower repair. After college, he worked for ENSR (formerly Environmental Research and Technology, ERT) from 1976 to 1994. He started his own business working out of his home office: Isiminger Environmental Services, from 1994 to 2005.
John met his first wife Joyce Earnest via a mutual friend in high school and married in Moundsville, WV in 1976. They moved to Houston, TX in 1981, where they raised 2 children: Cameron and Mariel.
He started working for Metco in 2005, where he moved to the League City area, and retired in 2018 as the Houston Office Manager.
John met Joan Hoesl at ERT as coworkers around 1986, and maintained contact through the years with Christmas cards. They reconnected in 2006 and were married in 2010. They had celebrated 14 years of marriage prior to his passing. They shared a love for dogs, specifically Shelties, raising several during their marriage.
John was well known for his “Indiana Jones” hats; his favorite one being from his Honeymoon in Fredericksburg with Joan. John embraced the outdoorsman clothing style with moccasins, flannel shirts, and blue jeans. He filled his retirement days rekindling his love for the outdoors with hunting, fishing, and little mechanical projects. He especially enjoyed going camping and hunting with his lifelong friend, Mike Wade.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Susie Isiminger, infant sister Elizabeth, infant brother James, mother-in-law Alice Hoesl, and father-in-law Joe Hoesl.
John is survived by his wife Joan Isiminger, mother of his children Joyce Peters, son Cameron Isiminger (Minna), daughter Mariel Theiss (Jacob), grandson James “JJ” Theiss, brother Tom Isiminger (Barb), sister Karen Isiminger, brothers-in-law Mark Hoesl (Patty) and Paul Hoesl (Kim), sisters-in-law Grace Schamburg (Kurt) and Kristi Koncaba (Kenny), and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John is inurned at South Park Cemetery Garden of Hope in Pearland, TX.
